How to fix hardwood floor after using Goof Off?

July 152010

I used Goof Off to remove some spilled paint on my hardwood floor. It looks like the Goof Off removed the finish as well. Know there is a big spot on the floor where the finish is gone. How can I fix this?

Actually, alcohol will remove dried latex paint from floors & clothes.

Take a good, clear picture of your floor, showing the color…you may need to take several from different angles to get the color right (compare the pics for color), then take your camera to your home improvement center & look at the stain sample boards in the paint dept.

Get a half-pint of the stain that matches the closest, then get a spray can of the urethane, clear gloss, semi-gloss or matte finish your floor has.

Use a cloth to rub the stain in & wipe off the access…you may need to do this several times until you get close to the right shade. Once you’re satisfied, let the stain dry overnight & then spray a couple of light coats & let them set at least 4 hours between coats & 24 hours, then lightly sand the spot with 0000 steel wool, wipe the area, then spray another light covering coat & let it set for 24 hours & you should be done.

Good luck…..

How do I get the trailer’s running lights and turn signals to work at the same time?

I just finished wiring a trailer and put a new plug on the truck. Everything works except when I try to turn the signals on while the running lights are on. The signals even work when the brake lights are on but not the running lights. Any ideas?

If it is wired correctly( which it doesn’t sound like it is) then the ground is not sufficient. Try using separate ground wires to each tail light rather than a common ground, just through the trailer frame.

How do I become a moive extra?

I’m looking to make some extra money and I’ve heard that being a movie extra can be a fun way to do so. But I don’t know of any web sites that are real or where to go or who to talk to. I don’t think I need a agent cause I’m not looking to make this as a career just some extra money

It really depends.
My sister was an extra on Titanic when part of the scenes were filmed in Mexico. She was paid 6.50 an hour while others were not.
It really depends on how much exposure you are looking for.
Some people want to be extras just to be on the big screen or television and really don’t care about payment.
If you want to actually have a speaking part or maybe a 2 or more minute exposure, then yes money will be involved.
You need to speak with a talent agent. They are the ones that will lead you in the right direction. That is where my sister started at.
Just don’t be expecting big pay as an extra. They are usually paid minimum wage.

What is the name of this film?!?

I had a film on VHS long ago and can’t remember the name of it. This film is set in victorian times. Women of a good social class are being murdered by strangulation. The film centers around the relationship between a police constable and a particular young woman (who I thought was kiera knightley?). The main characters sister and maid gets murdered and in the end she sets herself up for bait by wearing a specific collar around her neck (to prevent being strangled) and the killer is found to be the vicar’s wife.

Your description makes me think of Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Silk Stocking (‘04).

Has America officially become an Idiocracy: where duping the LCD is all you need to lead?

LCD: lowest common denominator

I have seen much in my years. I saw the world at war. I saw America on her knees, near defeat. I saw her rise above the smoke and fire of battle to again fly with the eagle in the sun. I have fought my war, which we could not win and were not allowed to win. I returned to a country on the downhill run to be spit on and cussed by the liberal factioned flower children. I was denied good jobs because of my military duty, but I also held my head high, knowing I did my duty to the Eagle of freedom.
Today, I am appalled again because of the idiocy of the American people. Instead of listening to the campaigners looking for a vote, they ask stupid questions, make absurd statements, and lie like the ones that are running for office.
Democracy has near died and idiocracy has taken over, that is for sure.

What is the diiferance between Story Writer, scriptwriter and screenplay writer?

July 152010

I want to know that what is the roll of STORY, SCRIPT and SCREENPLAY witer in the film.

If I am reading your question correctly, you are asking about the difference in the credit the writer is given for the film.

Story By, Written By, Screenplay By

Those are the three, and while there are differences between the three, the main purpose behind the designation is for Writer’s Guild credits, and pay standards within the guild.

There are many variations of how these credits can appear in a film. Sometimes all three appear, other times a combination of sorts. And don’t even get me started on Television credits. Those go even deeper.

The manual, can be found here:

http://www.wga.org/content/subpage_writersresources.aspx?id=153

Policy found here:

http://www.wga.org/content/subpage_writersresources.aspx?id=171

And here is the verbatim cut and paste answer for your actual question:

It is appropriate to award a "Story by" credit when: 1) the story was written under employment under Guild jurisdiction; 2) the story was purchased by a signatory company from a professional writer, as defined in the Minimum Basic Agreement; or 3) when the screenplay is based upon a sequel story written under the Guild’s jurisdiction. If the story is based upon source material of a story nature, see "screen story" below.

A "Screenplay by" credit is appropriate when there is source material of a story nature (with or without a "Screen Story" credit) or when the writer(s) entitled to "Story by" credit is different than the writer(s) entitled to "Screenplay by" credit.

The term "Written by" is used when the writer(s) is entitled to both the "Story by" credit and the "Screenplay by" credit.

This credit shall not be granted where there is source material of a story nature. However, biographical, newspaper and other factual sources may not necessarily deprive the writer of such credit.

MEAT, ET. ALL:

So, your so-called screenwriters that "answered" your question are folks you should beware of when seeking answers on this forum. I am a member of the WGA, but for goodness sakes, if you cannot even research properly if you are pretending to be something you are not, go home.
